Fabrizio Romano claims Liverpool have signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton for a transfer fee even less than previously reported.
Mac Allister, 24, passed a medical with Liverpool on Tuesday and has agreed terms on a five-year deal at Anfield, reportedly worth £150,000 per week.
Romano claims Liverpool have triggered a release clause in the midfielder's contract with Brighton and are set to complete the transfer, with the final documents now being signed.
The Italian transfer expert claims Liverpool have paid just £35m for the midfielder, who was a key member of Argentina's victorious World Cup squad in Qatar.
In comparison, Chelsea paid £106.8m to sign Mac Allister's international midfield partner Enzo Fernandez in January.
"Liverpool have just signed Alexis Mac Allister for… £35m," tweeted Romano.
"Reds have now triggered the clause to sign the midfielder after medical tests completed with Brighton’s permission.
"Documents are being signed. Here we go confirmed."
Mac Allister was pictured leaving Liverpool's AXA Training Centre on Tuesday night after his medical.
A transfer announcement now appears to be imminent, with the midfielder set to officially join Liverpool when the window opens for English clubs on June 14.
Mac Allister will leave Brighton after helping them to come sixth in the Premier League, their highest-ever league finish which secured them Europa League football next season.
In total, he has made 112 appearances for the Seagulls, scoring 20 times, since joining from Argentinos Juniors in 2019.
Who else could Liverpool sign?
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is looking to sign several new players this summer after allowing James Milner, Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita to leave the club at the end of their contracts.
The Reds have been linked with several midfield targets including Nice's Khephren Thuram, Borussia Monchengladbach's Manu Kone and Celta Vigo's Gabri Veiga.
Liverpool may also look to sign a left-sided centre-back this summer, with Eintracht Frankfurt's Evan Ndicka, Wolfsburg's Micky van de Ven and Levi Colwill - who spent the season on loan at Brighton from Chelsea - just some of the names linked with the Reds.
Liverpool may also look to sign another right-back as cover for Trent Alexander-Arnold, should the transfer budget stretch to that.
