Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a candidate to take the vacant manager’s job at Leicester City, with the Foxes hoping to make an appointment in the near future.
The former Premier League champions were relegated from the top flight on the final day of the season and interim boss Dean Smith unlikely to stay on as manager, although the Daily Mail report that he has held talks with the club’s hierarchy.
Leicester are also thought to be considering former Bournemouth and Fulham boss Scott Parker and Manchester City coach Enzo Maresca, while Steven Gerrard was also considered but he is set for Saudi side Al-Ettifaq.
The Mail reports that there is ‘some support’ for Solskjaer at the King Power, with the Norwegian out of work since leaving Manchester United in November 2021.
His unexpectedly long stint in charge of the Red Devils began in December 2018 and lasted 168 games, 91 of which he won.
That followed two stints in charge of Molde and one brief spell with Cardiff City in 2014 which saw the Welsh side relegated to the Championship.
Leicester will be going through a rebuilding process in the second tier with whoever takes the role, as they are expected to sell key players after relegation from the top flight.
James Maddison is certain to leave, with the likes of Newcastle and Tottenham interested, while Harvey Barnes is also very likely to return to the Premier League immediately, with West Ham keen on him.
Youri Tielemans has already left for Aston Villa on a free transfer, while the likes of Caglar Soyuncu, Ayoze Perez, Daniel Amartey and Ryan Bertrand.
