Dutch defender Micky van de Ven and Edmond Tapsoba are being monitored
Tottenham have reportedly placed Dutch defender Micky van de Ven on a shortlist alongside Edmond Tapsoba as Ange Postecoglou looks to bolster his side's defence by dipping into the transfer market.
Spurs leaked goals last season, including six in a defeat against Newcastle and the most out of any team in the Premier League's top 10.
Van de Ven is currently plying his trade at Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg and is wanted by Tottenham, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The 22-year-old made 36 appearances across the Bundesliga and German cup last season and has been earmarked for a move to the English top-flight since the end of the season.
Talks have reportedly already taken place between Tottenham and the defender who has four years remaining on his existing contract in Germany.

De Ven is represented by Team Raiola, previously led by super agent Mino Raiola prior to his death at the age of 54 last year following a short illness.
Spurs are yet to make any defensive signings in the transfer window but appear eager to reinforce their backline after additionally being linked with a move for Tapsoba.
The Burkina Faso born star also plays in the Bundesliga and has been mentioned as another option for Tottenham after a similarly impressive season.
Tapsoba made 47 appearances in all competitions for Bayer Leverkusen last season and appeared in both the Champions League and Europa League.
Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is targeting defensive reinforcements ahead of next season
He started all but one of Leverkusen's German top-flight matches and played a total of 2,873 minutes in the league as Xabi Alonso's side finished sixth overall.
However, the London outfit could be rivalled by other potential Premier League suitors amid similar reported interest from Liverpool.
Meanwhile, they have agreed a £17.2million fee for Empoli goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and are also gaining confidence in their pursuit of James Maddison.
Vicario will act as Hugo Lloris' replacement between the posts and is admired for his cat-like reflexes and impressive performances in the Serie A last season.
