Brighton have asked about Ajax's attacking midfielder Mohammed Kudus, 22
They need to strengthen as Chelsea prepare a second offer for Moises Caicedo
The 22-year-old Ghana international has had interest from Everton and Liverpool in the past and is keen to leave Amsterdam this summer with a move to the Premier League favoured.
Roberto de Zerbi's side are looking to replace Alexis Mac Allister, who departed the club at the start of June for £35million.
And Kudus, who plays in a similar advanced midfield role, could be a good addition to the squad, as the Seagulls are also preparing to lose Moises Caicedo.
He rejected a one-year contract extension with Ajax back in April. Long sought-after, he struck off from training last August to try and force through a move Everton and has also reportedly attracted interest from Manchester United, Chelsea, and Newcastle.

Brighton have already signed James Milner, Mahmoud Dahoud and Joao Pedro and are closing on Anderlecht keeper Bart Verbruggen.
They also want Leeds midfielder Tyler Adams as Chelsea are preparing a second bid for Moises Caicedo, for whom Brighton want £80m.
Chelsea had a £60m bid rejected for Caicedo earlier this month and the Ecuadorian is now a high-priority target for Manchester United after their failed pursuit of Mason Mount.
Should Caicedo leave the Amex Stadium, the necessity of Brighton's quest to sign new midfielders, including Kudus, would intensify.
Ghana international Kudus has already won two Eredivisie titles and a Dutch domestic cup, scoring 24 goals in 83 matches to become a key figure.
This season, he has been pivotal in Ajax's third-placed finish, scoring 11 times in 30 appearances, while also netting four goals in six Champions League matches.
